One of the best parts of being an Austin wedding photographer is developing strong relationships with local venues. Canyonwood Ridge in Dripping Springs is one of my all time favorite venues, and I’ve had the honor of working with them dozens of times over the past few years. With 12,000 square feet of indoor space, a beautiful bridal suite with perfect natural light, sweeping views of the Hill Country, and multiple ceremony locations, Canyonwood Ridge is a beautiful, clean, and easily adaptable venue.
I have seen every type of wedding here, from country weddings to multi-day, multi-cultural celebrations. While ideal for larger weddings, you can truly turn the venue into whatever you like. And the best part? You can bring your pets! Canyonwood Ridge is open to furry friends, whether that’s your family dog or a beer-toting donkey. Whether you prefer simple, DIY decorations or luxurious florals with interactive installations, Canyonwood Ridge can match and elevate your vision.

The greatest aspect of planning your wedding here is the indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces. If you want a stunning outdoor ceremony, you can get married on the turf overlooking the rolling hills. A permanent trellis provides a natural focal point for the ceremony, or a lovely private first look. The property is lined with groves of oak trees which provide shade on sunny days and create an intimate, secret garden feeling.

Unfortunately, we all know how unpredictable the weather can be in central Texas. Lucky for us, Canyonwood Ridge has an equally beautiful indoor chapel with vaulted ceilings, tall windows, and a raised dais so all of your guests can see you exchange vows. Or maybe an indoor ceremony is your first choice! Many couples get married in the chapel, and then filter outside for a lounge-style cocktail hour! The options truly are endless, and the team at Canyonwood Ridge provides a five-star experience every time.

Canyonwood Ridge was designed as a wedding venue, and you can feel the level of thought and intention that went into every decision. The reception space is separate, meaning you won’t have to worry about transforming the indoor space from ceremony to reception during cocktail hour. I always admire the exposed wooden beams, hanging lights, and one wall full of windows and doors that lead to the covered patio. There is more than enough space for round or long tables with a dance floor in the center. The flow of this venue feels effortless, allowing guests to transition from ceremony, to cocktail hour, to reception with ease.

If you’re considering getting married at Canyonwood Ridge (which I wholeheartedly recommend), keep these few things in mind. The max capacity of the venue is 300 people, but I recommend less. This way, the venue isn’t overflowing and you have room to maneuver and include a larger dance floor if that’s your scene! Renting the venue includes exclusive use from 9am until midnight, and your guests must leave at 12am.
When developing your timeline, be sure to leave space for sunset photos! There is nothing quite like the way the light filters over the hills at sunset. Plus, I know of countless photo-worthy spots hidden around the property. Book your date as soon as you can, since this is one of the most highly sought-after venues near Austin!

One of the best parts of working with a local Austin wedding photographer is my experience at venues like Canyonwood Ridge! I’ve been in this industry for nearly twenty years, meaning I’ve worked at some of the best venues in the area. And honestly? Canyonwood Ridge is at the top of that list.
