why should you choose me?

The burning question...

Naomi Phelps Photography is an Austin wedding and elopement photography company specializing in candid, colorful, timeless, documentary-inspired photography for couples who want to feel fully present on their wedding day.

Choosing someone to document your wedding day—and the memories you'll cherish for the rest of your life—is a big decision. Your first look, your vows, the tears in your parents' eyes, the hug from your grandparents... these are moments that can never be recreated. You deserve more than someone with a camera. You deserve an experienced photographer who knows how to preserve every meaningful moment while helping you feel completely at ease.

From the moment we begin working together, I'll be there to guide you, support you, and make the entire experience feel effortless so you can spend your wedding day making memories—not worrying about them being captured.

I've had the honor of photographing weddings since 2007. After earning my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from George Mason University, I spent three and a half years working full-time alongside a wedding photojournalist. That invaluable experience gave me a deep understanding of not only photography, but also how to anticipate the moments that matter most and navigate the unpredictability of a wedding day.

In 2012, I launched my own business, originally Sweet Memories Photography. Since then, I've photographed 300+ weddings and love stories, continued investing in my education, and refined a documentary approach that allows genuine emotions and authentic connections to shine. Today, as an Austin, Texas wedding photographer, I'm just as passionate about serving my couples as I was when I photographed my very first wedding.

And then there's the conversation everyone thinks about but rarely wants to have: the investment.

Your wedding photography is one of the few investments from your wedding day that continues to grow in value long after the celebration is over. They're the memories you'll share with future generations and the legacy you'll pass down for years to come. Your wedding day only happens once, and having an experienced photographer means you can be fully present, knowing every meaningful moment is being documented with authenticity and heart.

While your flowers eventually fade, your cake is eaten, your décor is packed away, and your dress is carefully stored, your photographs become more valuable with every passing year. They are the tangible reminders of how your wedding day felt—the people who celebrated beside you, the joyful moments you didn't even realize were happening, and the beginning of your marriage.

That's why I believe wedding photography isn't simply another wedding expense—it's an investment in your memories, your family history, and the story you'll revisit for the rest of your lives.

Naomi was actually the first vendor that we booked. We felt an instant bond, like we knew her forever, which allowed us to be completely comfortable and completely ourselves around her. She got us excited for the rest of the wedding planning process and I can’t thank her enough for that. She captured the most beautiful engagement photos and breathtaking wedding photos from what I’ve seen in our previews so far. She is very organized and manages her time well. She isn’t in your face while she’s shooting so you can be yourself and enjoy your significant other! We love Naomi!"

You've got questions

and I've got the answers!

How would you describe your photography style?

Simply put, my photography style is natural, authentic, and true to you.

My goal is to capture your wedding day exactly as it unfolds—rain or shine, cloudy or clear, windy or calm. Your day is already beautiful and uniquely yours, and I don’t believe it needs to be changed or overly edited to make it anything other than what it is: perfectly you.

That also means I’m not here to make you look like someone else. I won’t make you skinnier, give you a bigger chest, remove your tattoos, erase your birthmarks, or Photoshop away the little things that make you you. Those details are part of your story, your personality, and what makes you beautiful.

As Darcy so perfectly says in Bridget Jones’s Diary:
“I like you very much—just as you are.”

My documentary approach allows you to simply be yourselves and enjoy your wedding day while I quietly observe, anticipate, and capture the moments happening around you. The big ones, the little ones, and all the wonderfully imperfect moments in between.

Because your wedding day will go by in the blink of an eye, I want your photographs to bring you right back to how it felt—the tears, the laughter, the nerves, the ugly cries, the belly laughs, the quiet glances, the crazy dance moves, and the people you love most.

Capturing your authentic selves, your love, your relationship, and your wedding day as it truly happens is what I love—and honestly, what I live for. I want you to look back at your photos years from now and recognize yourselves, remember exactly how it felt, and smile knowing that was your day, and you were completely, perfectly you.

When can we expect to receive our images and how many can we expect?

All images will be delivered within 4-6 weeks post-wedding.

As for the amount of images, it really depends on the scope of the wedding. It is determined by details, guest count, moments, and hours of coverage. I would say that, on average, I deliver about 100 images per hour.

Do you offer editing?

I carefully cull and edit every image that you see. This means that I look through every image and make sure that I would be proud to hang them on my wall or showcase them on social media. Each photo is individually color-corrected, brightened/darkened, cropped, and straightened as needed.

The difference between retouching and editing is that:
  • Editing is making adjustments like brightness, color correcting, cropping and straightening (which I absolutely do).
  • Retouching is a bit more detail-oriented. It can include removal of tattoos or blemishes, whitening teeth, brightening eyes, removing objects in the fore or background, etc.

I believe you are perfect and the imperfections of your day and perfectly imperfect. However, retouching may be requested and are subject to an additional charge per image.

do you offer video and content creation?

Your memories deserve to be preserved in the way that fits your story best. Along with timeless wedding photography, I also offer wedding videography and content creation, giving you the best of both worlds. From cinematic films you'll treasure for decades to behind-the-scenes moments and social-ready content you can relive and share within days, every part of your celebration is documented with the same care, creativity, and attention to detail.

Can we get the RAW files?

Although I’m incredibly confident in my technical skills as a photographer, the RAW files straight out of my camera aren’t a true representation of me or my photographic style. Editing is a huge part of my creative process, and I spend a significant amount of time carefully culling and editing every gallery so that your final images feel cohesive, intentional, and true to you and your wedding day.

Think of a RAW file as the starting point rather than the finished photograph. It’s intentionally flat and unprocessed, designed to hold as much information, detail, and quality as possible. That gives me the flexibility to shape each image through my editing process while preserving the natural colors, beautiful details, and little moments that make your wedding uniquely yours.

The finished photograph is the result of both the way I photograph and the way I edit. My camera captures the moment, but my editing is where I bring my creative vision and style into the image.

I want the photographs you receive to feel like my work—natural, vibrant, timeless, and true to life—while still looking and feeling like you. That final, fully edited image is the art you’re investing in, and it’s a very intentional part of what I deliver to every couple.

We don't know how to pose or act. Do you provide guidance?

We don't know how to pose or act. Do you provide guidance?

Absolutely! I’ve always been a little awkward in front of the camera myself, which is actually one of the reasons I became so intentional about learning how to pose people comfortably and naturally. When I first started photographing couples, I took quite a few posing courses and studied different techniques—but most of what I’ve learned has come from years of real experience.

I’ve photographed enough couples to know that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to posing. By getting to know you, watching how you naturally interact, and learning what kinds of images you’re drawn to, I can get a feel for what directions and poses are going to work best for you.

My biggest priority is making sure you feel comfortable and like yourselves. I’ll give you gentle direction when you need it, but I also want to give you space to naturally interact, laugh, flirt, snuggle, and just be together. Once you’re comfortable, we can have a little fun and experiment with different poses and ideas.

And if something feels awkward? We move on! Not every pose works for every couple, and that’s completely okay. I’m not going to force you into something just because it looked great on someone else.

Your experience should be tailored to you—not a Pinterest board. My job is to help you feel comfortable, look amazing, and most importantly, have fun while I capture the two of you exactly as you are.
