Putting your wedding (and life) into someone's hands is scary. You can't redo a first kiss or capture that first look with grandpa again. So you want...no, you NEED an experienced photographer - someone you can trust to show up, do a wonderful job, while making everyone feel at ease and allowing you to focus all your attention on enjoying your day. 

Let me put your nerves at ease: I've been a wedding photographer since 2007. Having graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, with a concentration in photography from George Mason University, I worked full-time with my mentor and wedding photographer for 3-1/2 years as both his office manager and second photographer. All before I took the leap and began my company, which was at the time Sweet Memories Photography, in 2012. Since then, I haven't stopped learning and continuing to be passionate about weddings.

And then there is the most awkward yet most important conversation: money. Let's just go ahead and dive right into it. Photography is an investment. It's not cheap if you're wanting the best, most trustworthy, most experienced. Your wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event where you have everyone under one roof (or in one place) which rarely, if ever, happens. You want that day fully documented in a way that captures all those people, and the joy and support that they have for you. Your florals dry up, gown is preserved and placed in a box, food is in your stomach and/or thrown out, decor is returned, cake goes stale, but your photos last forever. It really is all you have at the end of the day.

How would you describe your photography style?

My style is:

I am inspired by a mix of documentary and fine art photography, and by YOU! My main purpose is to showcase your personalities both as individuals and as a couple, and to shout your LOVE out into the world with timeless film and digital photos that are YOU!

When can we expect to receive our images and how many can we expect?

All images will be delivered within 4-6 weeks post-wedding. 

As for the amount of images, it really depends on the scope of the wedding. It is determined by details, guest count, moments, and hours of coverage. I would say that, on average, I deliver about 800 images per 8-hour wedding.

Do you offer editing?

I carefully cull and edit every image that you see. This means that I look through every image and make sure that I would be proud to hang them on my wall or showcase them on social media. Each photo is color-corrected, brightened/darkened, cropped, and straightened as needed. 

The difference between retouching and editing is that: 
  • Editing is making adjustments like brightness, color correcting, cropping and straightening (which I absolutely do).
  • Retouching is a bit more detail-oriented. It can include removal of tattoos or blemishes, whitening teeth, brightening eyes, removing objects in the fore or background, etc.

I believe you are perfect and the imperfections of your day and perfectly imperfect. I'm just saying... 😉 However, retouching may be requested and are subject to an additional charge per image. 

What if you haven't worked at our venue or destination before?

NOT A PROBLEM!  I have been a photographer since 2012 and have been subject to all kinds of locations and lighting situations. From Catholic church weddings, which tend to be dark and often don't allow flash photography to mid-day weddings, where the lighting is harsh and can cast wonky shadows, I have been through it all and have the experience and the equipment to prepare me for any and everything!

In our early consultations, I find out from you if there are specific spots that you're absolutely in love with. I take that into consideration and then will do some of my own research. Then I arrive to the venue or destination early to look for inspiration and best lighting situations. 

I'm always happy to do a venue walk-through if fate allows, but I hope that by the end of our conversation(s), you feel confident in knowing that I will take good care of you and make sure you have the most beautiful photos!

Can we get the RAW files?

Although I am confident in my technical skills as a photographer, the RAW files are not a representation of me or my photographic style. Editing is such a huge part in my creative process, and I spend a significant amount of time carefully culling and editing my photos to truly represent each couple and their wedding day. 

A RAW image is flat and meant to be edited, which allows us photographers to keep as much detail and quality as possible within the file. This allows me to edit the images to my style and brand, while staying true to the natural colors and details of your wedding day, and keeping the high resolution and littlest of details.

We don't know how to pose or act. Do you provide guidance?

Absolutely! I've always been awkward in front of the camera so when I started out as a photographer, I took quite a few posing courses. But, most importantly, I learned from experience. By getting to know you as a couple, how you interact, and what sort of photos you're most drawn to, I have an idea as to what directions and poses might work best for you. 

My main focus is making sure you're comfortable and posing more naturally. Then we may start experimenting with other poses but if I feel that you're uncomfortable or awkward, we'll try another pose. Not every pose works for every couple so I try to customize each experience so it is tailored to you!

I know that wedding planning can be overwhelming and stressful, but I promise this part is not! We are going to have a blast with one another and capture your moments in a way that you will remember forever! Developing an amazing, trusting, stress-free, and fun relationship with you over the next several months, on your wedding day, and after everything is said and done, is my priority, and this contact form is a great start to that!
