If you’re dreaming of an engagement photoshoot that feels both iconic and deeply personal, the University of Texas campus is one of the most timeless places in Austin to capture your love story. The architecture, the history, the glowing light that hits the Tower just right—it all comes together to create a backdrop that’s both classic and full of heart. And for TJ and Shelby, it was the perfect location to take their engagement photos.
Their University of Texas engagement session was romantic, soft, and uniquely them (they even brought their cute dogs!). If you’re thinking about planning a engagement session on the UT campus, we’re covering how to plan your photoshoot and why this university is such a meaningful choice for couples.

The University of Texas is more than just a college campus—it’s a tapestry of beautiful architecture, well-kept lawns, historic buildings, and hidden corners that feel cinematic.
Some of the most popular photo spots include:
Each area offers a different mood—from architectural and grand to romantic and quiet—so you can create a gallery that feels full, diverse, and totally “you.”
If UT is a meaningful part of your story (where you met, studied, or spent meaningful time together), the photos become even more sentimental.

TJ and Shelby describe their relationship as one where every day feels like a sleepover with your best friend. They’re goofy, affectionate, a little playful, and inseparable in that effortless way that only happens when two people are genuinely meant to be together.
TJ is the adventurous one, always pulling Shelby out of her cozy, homebody tendencies. Shelby brings the warmth, steadiness, and soft romantic energy that balances him perfectly. Together, they love sunsets, working on projects around their house, grabbing dinner, and spending time with their dogs, Grace and Katie. They’re simple-life people in the very best way—finding joy in the little things, the slow moments, and just being together.
Their love story had a slow beginning and a fast rise. They first met briefly years ago through a mutual friend while TJ was in College Station. Shelby had the biggest crush on him but nothing happened—yet. Six years later, she walked into her Services Marketing class and immediately thought she recognized the guy sitting across the room. When roll was called, her heart practically stopped. And even though she was convinced he wouldn’t remember her, he stood up, gave her a hug, and everything fell into place effortlessly after that.
By March, they were inseparable. Their relationship is built on commitment, timing, shared values, and a whole lot of faith. They’ve weathered long distance, bought a home together shortly after graduating, and built a life rooted in honesty, communication, and growing together.

Shelby knew she wanted their photos to feel romantic and timeless, and a little bit of that moody romance that UT’s buildings capture so beautifully.
So we planned their session around the areas on campus that feel grand and intimate all at once—soft corners with dreamy light and iconic backdrops that highlight romantic movement and genuine connection.
And TJ and Shelby made my job so easy. They melted into each other in the sweetest ways, laughed at all the right moments, and held each other like they were home. And they included their dogs for some fun and sweet photos they’ll always cherish!

If you’re thinking about planning your own UT engagement session, here’s what I recommend:
1. Choose the right time of day.
Sunrise gives the BEST light and fewer crowds. Sunset is also beautiful, but it’s a much busier time with the students going to classes and the dining hall.
2. Wear something romantic that moves.
Long dresses, soft fabrics, and warm or neutral tones photograph beautifully against the limestone.
3. Keep walking in mind.
The campus is big and we’ll explore multiple spots—bring comfy shoes to walk between locations!
4. Bring meaning into the session.
Whether it’s where you met, studied, or fell in love, we’ll incorporate it into your story.
5. Relax into each other.
The best photos happen when you lean into your natural chemistry—just like TJ and Shelby did.
Their University of Texas engagement session was dreamy, heartfelt, and full of spark—everything they envisioned and more. And if you’re ready to plan your own UT engagement session filled with warmth, romance, and genuine emotion, I’d love to help bring your vision to life.
