I have been waiting to photograph a downtown Austin engagement photos featuring all of the iconic locations and landmarks for a while. When Brittney and Brandon moved here from Houston and got engaged, I knew this would be the perfect way to kick off their new journey—and I could finally have the shoot I’ve been envisioning!
They had recently purchased their home but hadn’t had a chance to venture downtown. I loved having the opportunity to introduce them to the must-sees while capturing the perfect photos for their save-the-dates and new home decor.
Engagement photos are meant to be fun, so I like to approach them more like a date. This way there’s not a ton of pressure to be posed perfectly the entire time. We can explore the area together; you two can be yourselves, be playful, and genuinely enjoy our time together!
The key to getting beautiful, clean photos downtown is to wake up EARLY.
We met up in the heart of downtown on South Congress right before sunrise. I promise, the early morning alarm is worth it for the people-and-car-free streets!
Another bonus: parking will never be an issue early in the morning. Plus, it is usually the coolest part of the day!

Brittney and Brandon chose to bring two outfit options, which I always recommend for variety! Just be prepared to change in your car or at a local coffee shop. The options are limited with businesses being closed in the early morning.
I always recommend complimenting, not matching your outfits. A formal outfit looks great among the informal urban streets of downtown. Then a casual outfit can show more of your personality as a couple—maybe even allowing for some fun. With Brittney and Brandon’s casual outfits, we rented a few electric scooters for them to race each other down the street!
