This Addison Grove wedding was filled with so much love, fun, and excitement! Personal details, Texas longhorns, karaoke, dance revolution, scavenger hunts … I mean, this wedding had it all!
The first time Aaron ever saw Mariah, she was actually on a date with his physics lab partner. She hadn’t seen him at the time though.
“I can still remember when she peeked her head into the study room where we were hanging out to say ‘hi’ to her friend. For the rest of that semester, she started to come to my college campus more frequently to hang out with my friend group. I finally got to know her a bit more. She had this energy about her that always brightened the room when she entered.
We used to play pickup ultimate frisbee outside my dorm room, and I can still remember her running around the field, thinking ‘she’s gotta run out of energy soon, right?!’ She never did!
We remained friends until we got a chance to talk more at a party early the next year. We talked about our mutual interest in rock climbing and she invited me to go some time. I smoothly replied, ‘I would, but I don’t have your number…’
We haven’t stopped talking since.”
The first time she laid eyes on Aaron was when she was hanging out with their mutual friend at college. She thought he was “SO attractive.”
“He had just come back from an ultimate frisbee practice, and, man, am I a sucker for athletic boys. We played a pickup game of ultimate frisbee with his group of friends and then hung out together really late in an empty study area. I remember talking to Aaron a good bit. I definitely thought he was being friendly to his friend’s friend and didn’t think anything of it.
WELL, apparently, our mutual friend got flirty vibes and asked me if I was going for Aaron. I denied it (even though I was crushing HARD). A year later, we crossed paths again. He asked me for my number, and the rest is history.
Mariah had certain criteria that made this proposal quite difficult for Aaron. However, everything went perfect! It was their 3-year anniversary. Aaron was fortunate enough to have a cousin nearby who is super creative and could help with the design and setup.
The plan: a full day of exploring downtown Indianapolis, including the Tinker Coffee Shop (which shares Mariah’s last name) and tandem biking around the canal. It was the first time they got a chance to explore downtown since Aaron moved there.
Then, Aaron surprised her with a fancy dinner at Ocean Prime, which they both raved as being FANTASTIC. Mariah “ordered the lobster bisque, and when they brought it out, there was only the lobster in it. I looked at Aaron so flabbergasted that there was no soup. Then the server poured in the soup. It was the fanciest thing I had ever experienced!”
After the dinner, they ended back at Aaron’s apartment where Mariah walked in to a unit filled with flower petals, candles, and a huge “Marry Me” sign.
Mariah says, “There was no way I could say ‘no!'”
After MONTHS of planning, which in itself is difficult, but with Mariah and Aaron not even living in the same state, you can only imagine how much more stressful that was … the day has finally arrived!
