Amber of Oh My Occasions has been planning and designing weddings and events for years. Known to plan and design lavish events, including her own wedding, she is planning another big event! Probably her biggest and most personal one yet: she and her husband are expecting!! Because these parents-to-be both loved Dr. Seuss books as children, it was the perfect theme for the celebration of their first child. And the Dr Seuss baby shower was the perfect gender -neutral theme inspired by “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” They took this theme and put their own spin on it: “Oh the Baby You’ll Grow.”
Having known Amber for a few years and lucky enough to call her and her husband my friends, I was beyond honored to not only be a guest at this amazing event, but to photograph it. #EventofTheYear!
Amber and Warren used the book, “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” for their guests sign. Little messages, notes, advice, and well-wishes were placed in this book for the couple and their baby to read together. Amber had the perfect vision for her baby shower. “I wanted something delicate, yet Seuss-y for this “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” baby shower. To me, that meant having whimsical, loose, and wild centerpieces balanced with playful colors and words that fit our Dr. Seuss theme. Xquisite Events created the most dreamy decor: from the custom wrapped boxes that used our invitation images and designs from the book, to the funky and fun styrene balls that topped the white pedestals. And talk about funky flowers! Todd, the designer, put together all sorts of wild flowers that were straight out of a Dr. Seuss book! ”
“My gorgeous pastel dress was custom designed by Dora Sasu. It matched our invitations perfectly and was super comfy, which is a total must for any preggo! My hair and makeup stylist was Tashy Marie Makeup and I could not have felt any more beautiful than I did that day! She gave a whole new meaning to ‘pregnancy glow.'”
Because what’s a baby shower without good friends, delicious food, and fun games?!
Guess how big her baby bump is!
“This game had guests guessing what the mystery flavors of baby food were.”
‘Take a whiff, or a taste if you’re braver! Have a look at what’s in the jars and guess the baby food flavor!’
Flavors from kiwi-carrot-pear to turkey were sniffed and some boldly tasted. As a tie-breaker for correct answers, the guests had to eat the remaining baby food in the turkey jar. The winner was a champ and chugged it!
This game “was an ode to Dr. Seuss’s “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish”. Instead, we swapped “blue” for “new” and included a Dr. Seuss character baby fish. The goal was for guests to guess how many Swedish Fish were in the bowl and the tricky part was that they were assorted sizes from mini to jumbo. The actual count: 532!”
Last game of the day: chug that juice!
