There’s nothing like a tropical wedding at the Bonnet House in Fort Lauderdale. How can you go wrong with a gorgeous venue, bright colors, flamingos and swans, and a fun couple?!
When a fellow talented creative asks you to help them shoot a wedding, you don’t hesitate. That was the case with Stephen and Catherine’s April wedding at the Church by the Sea and Bonnet House. New York’s Amanda Gentile was flying down with the couple for their destination wedding. She reached out needing a second photographer and I was more than thrilled to do so! And so glad that I did! Not only was the wedding amazing, but working alongside this other photographer was a blast! Low-key, laid-back, and fun, Amanda and I discussed weddings and events, and life up north. I love meeting new creatives, swapping stories, and sharing tips! **Disclaimer: all photos posted on this blog are solely my own.**
The bridal party got ready at the GALLERYone hotel in Fort Lauderdale. In a large suite, the flower girls enjoyed a little Mickey Mouse Clubhouse while the ladies enjoyed sipping on their ‘adult drinks’ with flamingo straws, getting pampered, while looking at the gorgeous view outside.
The day couldn’t have been more sunny or beautiful. For once, Florida wasn’t too hot and stuffy!
Catherine appeared to be calm, relaxed, and laid-back. Not that I don’t think she was a bit nervous and stressed, as most brides are. However, she hid her emotions well and seemed to be taking it all in.
I need a larger version of the below flower girl’s dress. Absolutely beautiful!
Catherine’s brother is an active member of the beautiful Church by the Sea so there was no doubt that this would be where Catherine and Stephen would say their “I do’s.” Quaint and beautiful, this church was the perfect venue for them.
The bride looked like an angel coming down the aisle. Stephen, with tears in his eyes, couldn’t take his eyes off of her. Then again, no one could!
Catherine’s two brothers had the honor of walking her down the aisle.
With traditional vows and a quick ceremony, the two were pronounced husband and wife and took off, ready to party! The nerve-wracking part was done!
There’s nothing I love more than intimate time spent with the bride and groom (and a bit with the bridal party). View pure perfection below:
I am so obsessed with Stephen’s little flamingo addition. What a great and classy way to include their tropical theme in his attire! When Hugh, the swan, graces you with his presence on your wedding day (or, let’s be honest, any day), you must capture the moment!Yes, the Bonnet House has their very own swan. If you haven’t visited this venue yet, you must! If not, for its beautiful building and landscapes, then for Hugh!He literally couldn’t keep his eyes off of her! #couplesgoalsDon’t think we missed the little booty grab!
Because, who doesn’t love a good steel drum playing in the background as you’re enjoying your cocktails?Decor was simply tropical and on point!
A little mojito, anyone? All the food looks so scrumdiddlyumptious! This cake though!!!Ladies and gentlemen: please welcome the new Mr. and Mrs. Caruso!!And let’s not forget the mother-son dance. Isn’t her dress fabulous? Some of the best and most touching wedding toasts:Gotta represent!I interrupt these pictures with a yummy food shot. And it just so happens that it’s perfect timing as after the above picture, dinner was served! You know how much I love a great night shot! “When the moon hits your eye like a big piece of pie.”Seriously, what an epic cake-smash!
